The Beloveds #7: Julian Andes

Note: The one picture I have of Julian seems to have gone missing. The boy in these images is just a stand-in. While he's not an exact lookalike by any means, there's something about him physically and tonally that reminds me of Julian, so view him accordingly.

When I was 19, some friends and I decided to spend the night in front of the Los Angeles Forum in order to ensure ourselves tickets for an upcoming Yes concert. In the days before ticketmaster made speed-dialing a viable alternative, that's what you had to do. Venues would prepare for the onslaught with heavy security, so it wasn't much of a party. There were hundreds of other fans doing the same thing that night, and among them was a stunningly cute boy who looked to be about my age sitting further up in line. I could barely keep my eyes off of him all night. He noticed my interest and tossed me occasional friendly smiles, but they were a little too ambiguous to give shy, thunderstruck me the courage to approach. In the morning, once he'd scored his tickets, he turned and gazed at me intently for a long moment then shrugged, waved goodbye and headed for his car. Once we'd gotten our tickets, my friends and I drove over to the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, hoping to score seats for an upcoming Lou Reed show whose tickets had gone on sale the same morning. And there the boy was again, walking away from the box office with his tickets in hand. When we saw each other this time, he walked right over to me and asked if I wanted to have breakfast with him at a coffee shop across the street. Of course I said yes, and, after my tickets were secured, we met up. Julian was a very direct and intuitive boy who knew a smitten, nervous person when he saw one. After quickly confirming we had the same taste in music, he just straight out said he'd like to have sex with me and invited me to come over to his house the following night. I was in such a state of disbelief at his offer that I couldn't speak, and, after enough stunned silence had passed, he said, 'Yes, I do, Julian,' and wrote his address and phone number on my napkin.
