This is Jonas Bjerre, the almost 30 year old Danish vocalist for the band Mew. When I look at his face, I just think, eternal. promises. life. He opens his mouth and out spills a voice that sounds like water feels. His lyrics are tales about animals, dreams, darkness, terror and violence under the surface, beautiful ugliness. When I saw him sing, live, my whole body filled with a kind of happiness of being in the same room with such a beautiful creature, it was like reaching out and shaking a familiar hand. The intensity in his heart was something I've never witnessed before. I've met him once, and his shy, humble, sweet nature was enough to leave a lifelong impression on me. My muse, my object of obsession.
