p.s. Hey. So another murder mystery thing today that speaks for itself. Just to let both you enjoyers and non-enjoyers of it know, the series finale is next week. ** David c., I'll do some LA querying, since I'm not the most up to date, and let you know what I can recommend asap. Any other Angelenos out there, please help him out. David e, garrison, hedi, et. al.? ** Jax, I did cough medcine. It was a horrible, cheap, half-assed high mixed with a frighteningly fast beating heart effect thanks to the ephedrine. No fun. I never saw God on drugs, but I sure a lot of god, if you know what I mean. ** Sypha_69, Listen, no sweat at all if the Bret Ellis Day isn't happening right now. Don't force it. If it becomes a pleasureable idea up the road, it'll always have a happy home here. For now, just take care of your health, etc. ** Perspects, Ooh, having done a ton of exactly the kind of LSD you say is in that new batch, run don't walk. Not that you need any reinforcement. Just, like you say, the difference between that LSD and most of the acid that's been foisted off as Acid during the last few decades is so vast that they're basically unrelated. Enjoy. ** David ehrenstein, Excellent FaBlog post. Thanks for the hi's with John. ** Rigby101, You're a Blanchot guy too? Excellent. No, weirdly, I haven't done a Blanchot Day. Don't know why. But that's now a high priority. ** Atheist, Give the dad a break, as people are saying, or, better, experiment with a bunch of different approaches to him, including ones that don't seem like they would work at all. Just write a short amount about or toward or from inside him or whatever in each different approach/style/pov/etc. idea, and if one isn't working, flush it. But you might find just a way into him using the last perspective and style choice you could have imagined would work. Fiction's so great that way. ** C., You have the best hands. ** Vomitingghosts, Naturally, your post is like a Day in itself. How did you get so fucking smart and knowledgeable? And how can you so intuitively understand the hallucinogenic experience as a self-proclaimed semi-novice? You're a wonder. You really need to write a book, some kind of book. ** Michael karo, Dolls coming to Paris? Hm. You swear it's not depressing to see them in their current guise? I'm going to see Sparks here next week, thanks a super generous certain someone. Excited about that. ** D., Oh, you know, I've talked a bit about my take on Vincent Gallo here. I don't like him much, to be honest. At the same time, I totally dig what he's up to in theory -- making noise, pushing buttons, fucking with the normal, pushing the auteur angle, etc. The new Lynch: First, the guy's never been impenetrable, just differently penetrable, right? People are just lazy and stupid. Second, I don't know about you, but in the lazy, unambitious context of contemporary indie film in general, the impenetrable sounds so refreshing and delicious to me. Bring back the good old days when filmmakers and artists in general had the courage and belief in themselves as artists to risk impenetrability to find and make something huge and great. You know what I mean., I'm sure. Long story short, like you, all that bad about the new Lynch just makes me more starved for it. ** Lost child, Thanks, you sweet guy. ** Tigersare, Yeah, I guess the best thing would be if your boyfriend just emailed me first. When is he here again? I'll make sure to check email frequently. Will he have a cell phone? He could give me his number? Anyway, yeah, if he feels like it, and I'm around and not too catatonic with depression that day, it'd be great to meet him. ** Garrison, You'd never seen Playtime before? Is it not insanely great? Tati is one of the all-time great idiocyncratic, absolutely unique artists, not to mention a genius and visionary of comedy like very, very few others. Cool. Try 'Mon Oncle' next, if you want. I haven't seen 'The Ruling Class' since I was really young, but, yeah, I loved it, and still have strong memories of it and of Peter O'Toole's insane performance. A must re-watch for me. Nice mention. ** 5stringaphasia, Thrill Kill Cult! Wow, that takes me back. I love that twelve inch you quoted. They got kind of embarrassing after a while though, didn't they? I remember cringing that I'd liked them once. ** Math tinder: Goes without saying, but fucking great Day yesterday. Really and truly one of the great Days here ever. Not to mention that the comments section was even more astoundingly smart and inspiring than usual, which is no small task. And so excellent of you to take the time to answer everybody. And that girl/boy/girl on your blog today is so alluring and hot, I can't believe it. If you don't mind me saying so. ** Paradigm, Hey, that's super kind of you re. the zine. Your life's so intense right now, yeah? Your posts have been quivering eerily with life lately. Not a bad thing at all. Quite the contrary, I imagine. Just getting a lot of intensity from you. ** Ignacio, You survived the tooth thing okay, yes? Very nice, very smart posts yesterday. My belated email is imminent. ** Mikel motorcycle, Greetings. ** That's it from me. See you tomorrow.
